The first cell phone I ever owned would make my children laugh today. It was rather large, had a single-color LCD screen that only displayed digits, and it didn’t have a single app. No angry birds here! I can’t tell you what happened to it since I’ve moved on, and obviously I don’t miss it. Today I use one of the latest iPhone models that does more than desktop computers did just a few years ago. Now it seems my entire life is on it—photos, music, calendars, contacts, tasks, notes, emails, weather, and even music. Technology certainly changes and changes quickly.

Our lives are full of change. Some change seems good, and some seems bad, while some we are not yet sure about. Some changes are big, and some are small. Maybe you have had some changes in your life like a job, a relationship, or a health condition. Unfortunately, people around us can change how they think about us or how they treat us. Someone once said, “The only certain thing is change.” That may be true of our circumstances, but there is a song we sing that declares this truth:

Yesterday, today, forever, Jesus is the same.

All may change, but Jesus never!

Glory to His name!

Faith in Jesus and His unchanging character can give us stability in an ever-changing world. We know that Jesus loves us, and we can know by faith that He always will. We know He saved us, and we can know and tell others that He saves today. We know He cares for us, and because of Who He is, we can know that He will care for us tomorrow just as He does today!

Oh, how sweet the glorious message simple faith may claim:

Yesterday, today, forever, Jesus is the same;

Still He loves to save the sinful, heal the sick and lame,

Cheer the mourner, still the tempest—glory to His name!
