La Verdadera Felicidad En Mi Vida

03/22/11

Read more…

SO…YOU’RE A SENIOR!

03/09/11

You’re a SENIOR?? -  So am I, and proud of it! I hope you are like me, and are having the time of your life!  Even with the challenges we face at this life stage, I am glad we can, like our younger cohorts, say emphatically “God is good!I certainly wish that more seniors could “get a grip” on their lives at present, and begin to live like God planned for them to live!  He certainly is not through with us when we reach “senior” age, but many that I meet seem to think that is the case!

I recently ran across an article in a publication I receive that lists ten “goals” for Senior Adults that I found very interesting, informative, and inspiring.  I will list two of them here, and consider others in future articles.

1.  Admit that you are a senior adult. In many cultures those over fifty are highly esteemed.  Look for ways to honor those older than yourself, thereby setting a precedent for the younger generation.  If we seniors will honor other seniors, those who are younger will follow our example, and begin to do the same with courtesy, compassion, and consideration of needs.

2.  Assess your past and prepare for the future. Consider how God has provided spiritually for you and determine how to begin or to continue your relationship with Him.  We must have God’s help to live successfully at any stage of life, and as we reflect on His dealings with us in the past we can be assured that He will continue to be involved in our present and in our future. It is a joy to daily fellowship with God, and to always find Him willing and able to be our sustainer and counsellor for everyday life….By the way, if, even as a senior, you have not entered into a personal relationship with God thru His Son, Jesus, today is the day to be “born again,” and to begin living a new life in Him!

Rejoicing in the Church

02/22/11

I am writing this letter Monday morning, reflecting on the wonderful Sunday services we experienced this past week. It was great to have our entire church family reassembled after the winter storms. The Lord graced us with a good number of guests, many people made decisions, and the spirit of the services was just an incredible blessing. It has been obvious to me in the last weeks the Lord has been at work in our church, and we are enjoying a season of blessing from His hand. It was an encouragement to me personally this past Sunday to look from the pulpit upon so many happy-spirited people singing to the Lord and sharing together a special time of worship and instruction. I was approached by 3 new families in our church, all of whom said in different ways how much they appreciated being at Eastland Baptist Church and the Read more…

Youth for Truth

02/21/11

Recently I was given a book that outlined the life and ministry of a well-known evangelist named D.L. Moody. As I began to read of Moody’s early life, I found that he accepted Christ at the age of eighteen and immediately began serving the Lord with his life. By his mid-twenties, Moody’s Sunday school class was averaging six hundred and fifty each week, as the Lord was continuing to bless. The Illinois Street Church became so well known that the newly elected President Abraham Lincoln visited and spoke there on November 25, 1860.

As I flipped through the pages of Moody’s life, I couldn’t help but dream of all the things God can do with a young person who is completely sold out and surrendered to Him! It reminded me of all the times throughout scripture that God chose to use those who were “too young” in the eyes of the world. It seems as if God makes a habit of Read more…

Snow Camp Review

02/17/11

Snow Camp 2011 was a great blessing for those who were able to attend!

A brief breakdown of the week: We had bus “issues” on the way but the Lord took care of us and we arrived early Monday morning in Westcliffe, Colorado. Tuesday – we went skiing at Monarch Mountain in negative degree weather and enjoyed watching snowfall all day long! Wednesday – the weather began to turn and the sun came out- we went tubing and enjoyed a relaxing day of playing games. Thursday – we went back to Monarch and skied all day long in beautiful weather and warm sunshine. Friday – we had a safe trip home.

The most important part of snow camp was the fellowship with God’s people and the preaching of His Word. We praise the Lord for another wonderful year at Snow Camp!

Picture DVD’s of Snow Camp will be available in the church bookstore soon!
